According to Law No. 217/2003 for the prevention and combating of domestic violence and Law No. 174/2018 of 13 July 2018 on its amendment and completion:
- File a written referral to a police sub-unit you belong to or if you need urgent help call 112, the emergency public service.
- Request the “Protection Order Application” and submit it together with the evidence: police referral, forensic certificate, witness names, documents, or records.
- The forensic certificate is issued within 48 hours from the act of violence.
- Until the protection order is issued and implemented you do not feel safe, you can ask for support from NGOs providing services or shelters.
- After issuing the protection order and implementing it, report any violation of its provisions to 112 or directly to the police headquarters.
What else can you do?
- Photograph wounds, save messages, or methods by which you are threatened.
- Go to a coroner for wounds examination – the classification of the legal penalty is made according to their severity.
- DO NOT withdraw your complaint with the police.
